The Fall...didn't know that about 'I'm going to Spain'

I always thought Bremen Nacht was pretty much identical to the chords used in one of the songs in Spinal Tap as well?

A bearded, bald, bereted, 70 year old Thompson performing, 'Oops, I Did It Again!' is pure joy.

Nouvelle Vague used to do a lot of good punk/alternative covers, until it sounded like they'd started to aim most of their new songs at car adverts

Speaking of due Fall, I had no idea that ‘I’m going to Spain’ was a cover taken from Kenny Everett’s Worst Songs Ever.

Some would say that it’s not a surprise that the Fall could cover a song from a Worst Songs Ever compilation and people wouldn’t notice the difference.

One of my favs but I'd argue that The Kingsmen cover is one of the first punk songs as a cover of the soul classic.

Down On Farm - covered by Guns N Roses on the Spaghetti Incident album, originally performed by UK Subs.

Not real a cover as much as an adaption - but the Dead Kennedys take on the Dan White murders with - I Fought the Law

Reel Big Fish (mostly punkish ska) do a few good ones.

- Hungry Like the Wolf in swinging lounge ska is pretty good and funny

Brown Eyed Girl

and Take on Me.

On a slightly different vein, Paul Anka, 60's pop star turned Vegasy lounge singer, did an album in the early 2000s I believe called Rock Swing which are lounge version of some classic rock/alternative songs:

It's My Life
Eye of the Tiger
Wonderwall
Black Hole Sun
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Lovecats

among others.
